William’s Story
While caring for William is the top priority, “everyone in the family is going through their own unique loss which needs to be considered and attended to.”
Ten years ago, William Felman*, a retired engineer, veteran, husband, father, uncle, and friend, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. For families like the Felmans, who are coping with Alzheimer’s or another dementia, the holiday season can pose special challenges and bring added stress. Alzheimer’s LA provided the Felmans care counseling services with a dementia specialist and introduced them to a community that offers invaluable support during a difficult journey.
“Alzheimer’s LA taught us the importance of growing our village,” Claire, William’s daughter-in-law, says. “Having a solid caregiving group outside of the nuclear family is a real blessing. Recognizing this has made all the difference for our family and in William’s care.”
For 40 years, because of your support, we have been a trusted resource for local families caring for a loved one facing Alzheimer’s or another dementia.
Please join us in bringing hope to families right here in our own community. Your gift today ensures that families like the Felmans have invaluable support during a difficult journey.
