BIOGRAPHY
I’m Jet, an L.A. native who grew up with a father passionate about music. He introduced me to artists like Pink Floyd, John Coltrane, Thelonious Monk, Eric Clapton, and of course, Led Zeppelin. As a guitarist, my dad longed for someone to jam with, so at 13, I decided to become a drummer was my calling. I can remember how fun it was playing “Smoke on the Water” (Deep Purple), “Crazy Train” (Ozzy Osborne) & “Sweet Child of Mine” (Guns N Roses) with him, and that excitement about music has stuck ever since.
Throughout middle school and high school, I played drums as a hobby. But seeing live music, now that was awe-inspiring! I became a fan of all things musical, falling in love with acts like Hall & Oats, Atreyu, Iron & Wine, The Misfits, Iron Maiden, Miles Davis, Phil Collins, Duke Ellington, The Donnas, Ray LaMontagne, Van Morrison, and so many more! I even joined Opera Club in my sophomore year (love me some Luciano Pavarotti).
In junior college, after giving several majors the old “college try,” I finally sunk my teeth into Journalism; more importantly, Broadcast Journalism. Luckily, when I transferred to CSUN, my most influential professors understood my drive to make music the center of my stories. I was hooked on talking about music, learning about music, and heck just being around it! My first step into radio was as a student entertainment writer, and later student assistant (producer) for 88.5 FM’s HD-3 station.
After earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Journalism in 2016, I got my chance to intern for the Independent 88.5 FM, and that’s when everything fell into place. I was later hired as their L.A. Events & Promotions Coordinator in 2018, becoming Marketing & Promotions Director in 2019. And this is only the beginning!
Other interests: Hot Sauce, Travel, Dance (Los Angeles Ballet Academy Graduate), Hockey (Go Kings Go!), and all things Disney.
