Aging in America Conference
Heather Cooper Ortner, President and CEO, Dr. Debra Cherry, executive vice president, Cathy Ladd, vice president, Programs, and Marie Mayen-Cho, director, Education and Latino Services, will represent Alzheimer’s LA at the 2020 Aging in America Conference, taking place March 24-27 in Atlanta, Georgia. The theme for the conference is Aging 2020: Examining the Needs of Today’s Diverse Older Adults. The conference will focus on issues impacting the increasingly diverse and multicultural older adult population, examining current policies and exploring challenges for the future. On Wednesday, March 25, Dr. Cherry and colleagues from across the country will present Caring for Caregivers: Evidence-Based Trainings on Dementia Behaviors, covering the federal Administration on Aging grant program and the experiences of its grantees. With colleagues from the CDC and the National Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Dr. Cherry is also delivering a workshop on plain language dementia education and leading the Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Disorders Peer Group discussion meeting. In addition, as part of a poster session, Marie Mayen-Cho and Cathy Ladd will be sharing Alzheimer’s Los Angeles’ successes and tips through a poster titled: Dementia Education That Resonates: Reaching Ethnically Diverse Caregivers.
